As a student growing with the internet, I never thought that I would have to depend so heavily on ICT. Beginning EDC 3100 and finding out that I would be blogging and using sites I have never used before, caused me to regard it as an ‘evil’ and painful experience. However, I looked into some of the advantages of ICT and found that it opens new forms of communication and data gathering abilities for industry and schooling, while the downsides can be cyber-security issues and also the ability to read body language during communication (Walton, 2015).
In education, students who use ICT improve in their meta-cognitive skills and are able to progress their learning at their own pace (Edinson, 2011). With this information, I have come to the conclusion that it is important that educators should embrace ICT and see that it is not as evil as it is made out to be, but another way for knowledge to be imparted to students.
